How much do alterations cost? Do you have a price list?
It is difficult to price up alterations accurately unless seen in person.
The same dress on two different body types can need different alterations in different places.
I have, however, created a very rough pricing list which you can find here.
Please use the prices as a guide and for a complete and accurate price, please contact me directly to discuss your requirements.
How do I book in with you?
Firstly, I need some information from you, so filling out my contact form is best. It provides me with your contact details, information about your dress and most importantly your wedding date. I book brides in by their wedding date into my work schedule. After i’ve received the form and had a look at it and my diary, you’ll get an email either inviting you to book in through my online booking system or an email with names and numbers of other recommended seamstresses, if I don’t have space for you.
What do I need to bring to my first fitting?
Your body, your vision, and your passion. Plus –
- your dress (if I don’t already have it),
- the shoes you plan to wear (if you don’t have your shoes yet, then shoes that are the right heel height),
- any underwear you plan to wear (spanx, strapless bra, stick on bra, etc),
- any accessories you want to try with the dress (veil, jacket, belt, sleeves, etc),
- any jewellery you want to try with the dress (necklace, earrings, bracelets, etc),
For more info about what to bring to your first fitting and why, visit my blog where I did a more in-depth answer.
What does the fitting process involve?
The average bride has three 1 hour fittings. Some brides require more, some require less.
My fitting days are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am – 4pm. I cannot accommodate evening appointments.
Your first fitting is roughly 10/12 weeks before your wedding date.
Your second fitting is roughly another four weeks after the first.
Your third fitting will be another four weeks after your second.
If you are happy with everything at your final fitting, you can take your dress there and then.
Or you can book me to steam your dress (and any other items) and collect on a separate date.
What should I do with my dress after my wedding?
I would recommend getting the dress cleaned as soon as possible after the wedding. I offer this service, please find more information here.
After cleaning, you can store the dress away in a box to preserve it for future generations or you can sell it on to another bride to use on their big day or donate it to a charity. I work with a charity that turns wedding dresses into clothing for stillborn babies.
I also have so many ways to turn your dress into keepsakes such as cushions, memory bears, christening gowns, baby dresses, etc.
Do you steam dresses that you haven’t altered?
Of course. However it depends on my availability. If I’m fully booked with bridal alterations, then I might not have time to steam your dresses.
Best thing is to contact me with your requirements and I can let you know if I’m free.
